A Halloween costume contest,?car show, mechanical bull, games?and plenty of and food music are on tap Saturday for the annual West Jeff Family Fest. The activity-packed event is hosted on the grounds of West Jefferson Medical Center off Avenue B.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the hospital's cancer center, according to spokeswoman Jennifer Steel. The money will pay for items used to help comfort patients undergoing chemotherapy, she said. The hospital recently opened a new infusion center, which features nourishment stations to encourage patients to eat, a laboratory and direct access to doctors.
Saturday's fun gets underway at 11 a.m. and runs until 10 p.m. Liz from the reality tv show "Swamp People'' will be signing autographs from 6-9 p.m.
